With Roselyn and Eloise still fighting over Karl, the companions are joined by Nate and Phil, Farmer Tiller's sons (now grown) and Elaina, Eloise's lost mother. Separated from her daughter by a terrible prophesy when Eloise was only a small child, Eloise's mother has spent the last 8 years living in Norway, where she has trained and become the greatest Norse Seeress.

      Athelwynne the Seer has vanished, and all suspect Loki.
